Talk on extraordinary images - Diane Arbus

23 February

Images by world renowned photographer Diane Arbus will be the subject of a free talk at 7pm on Tuesday 01 March at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill.

Some of Arbus’ best known images is a series of photographs of men in drag which Glasgow School of Art lecturer Glyn Davis will use to highlight how different subcultures in society are documented.

The talk compares these pictures to the work of other photographers including Warhol and Weegee.

The photos will also be placed in the context of the cultural and subcultural politics of the time and the consequences of displaying these images to a broader public.

Admission is free but booking is essential.
Please phone (01224) 523700 to ensure a place.

The talk coincides with the ARTIST ROOMS: Diane Arbus exhibition currently on display at the gallery until Saturday 09 April 2011.
