Historic local battle subject of talk

5 December 2011

Places are still available for a free illustrated talk on the Battle of Harlaw will take place at 12.30pm on Wednesday 07 December at Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Shiprow.

The battle cast a long shadow over the history of Aberdeen and the North-east. Very little is actually known about the battle itself but it was an important stage in an ongoing set of political struggles which affected the region, and Scotland, as a whole.

Chris Croly, historian at Aberdeen City Council said: "This year marks the 600th anniversary of the battle so it is a very opportune time to reflect on what happened and on the involvement of Aberdeen and Aberdonians in this highly important battle."

The talk will last approximately 30 minutes. Booking is advisable by telephoning (01224) 337714.
