Get in the mood for Christmas

30 November 2012

A series of family festive fun at Aberdeen City Council's museums and galleries begins this weekend [Saturday 01 December] at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill.

Celebrate the start of the festive season by making decorations to take home or to hang on the Christmas tree in the art gallery and make edible decorations with Aberdeen Sugarcraft Guild.

The drop-in session is on from 10.30am until 3.30pm and will include some musical magic from the Madlamark Choir from Aberdeen's twin city Stavanager, Norway. The choir will perform at 1.15pm and 2.15pm in the Centre Court.

Saturday's event is free and is sponsored by the council's Aberdeen's City Events.

Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums manager Christine Rew said: "The festive season is a busy time for everyone but as we head towards the end of another year I hope people of all ages will take time out to enjoy our special programme of Christmas events.

"It has been a great year for us so I would like to wish all our visitors a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2013."

The other events include performances by Granite City Chorus; the North of Scotland's only male barbershop choir, Tea Cosy; an alternative arts and craft fair, a Christmas flower arranging class, a performance by the Bon Accord Quintet and a lunchtime talk about Christmas in Victorian times.
