New photography exhibition opens at art gallery

30 November 2012

An exhibition of photographs by German photographer Oliver Godow will go on show from Saturday 01 December at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill.

PLAN B - SIDE A features new work shot in Augsburg in Bavaria which features the treatment of geometrical shapes; simple horizontals and verticals and the juxtaposition of colours which are both immediate and lasting.

Oliver Godow was born in Lübeck, Germany and studied at Glasgow School of Art.

Griffin Co, curator of the exhibition said: Godow's work explores the expression of duality; darkness and light, abstraction and representation, absence and presence, familiarity and obscurity. Playing with visual assumptions and evoking the colours and geometric forms, his photographs redefine everyday objects and the way we look at them."

The limited edition prints signed by the artist are available for sale at the Gallery Shop.

The exhibition is on show until Saturday 30 March 2013.
