Crombie - The Story of a Textile Mill
Provost Skene's House
15 August - 7 November
Crombie is a name synonymous with style and luxury, known worldwide as producers of quality cloths and tweeds. Established in 1805 by John Crombie, the company not only produced materials for commercial clothing, but also manufactured cloth for the supply of overcoats and uniforms for the soldiers of the Napoleonic, American Civil and two World Wars. The exhibition features a selection of garments from the Costume Collection, including a check-back cape worn by Aberdeen's first female anaesthetist.
