A Touch of Silk
Provost Skene's House
4 December 2010 - 12 February 2011
Silk has always been one of the most precious and expensive fabrics used for making clothes. Even today, with advanced processing techniques, silk is still viewed as a status symbol and usually used for clothes worn for best. This exhibition looks at the different types of silk produced highlighting garments from the collection including wedding dresses, evening gowns and lingerie.
