Scotland and Venice 2007
(1 December 2007 - 27 January 2008)
Six of Scotland's most exciting and innovative artists - Charles Avery, Henry Coombes, Louise Hopkins, Rosalind Nashashibi, Lucy Skaer and Tony Swain - selected to represent the country at the world's most important showcase for contemporary art, this year's Venice Biennale, present their homecoming exhibition.
Initiated by the Scottish Arts Council, National Galleries of Scotland and British Council and curated by Philip Long.
The Cutting Edge - Scotland's Contemporary Crafts
(9 February-12 April 2008)
The Cutting Edge showcases the most exciting and innovative of Scotland's craft work featuring work by thirty makers.
The exhibition is the product of a collaboration between Aberdeen City Council, East Ayrshire Council, Glasgow City Council and National Museums Scotland and is supported by the Scottish Arts Council.
Modern Masters of Printmaking
(9 January to 12 April)
The James McBey Print Room plays host to a selection of outstanding works by 20th century masters including Victor Pasmore, Kathe Kollowitz, Ben Nicholson, Paul Nash and Serge Poliakoff.
My Ladye Nevells Booke
(10 May - 3 August)
The only Scottish showing of My Ladye Nevells Booke, one of the most beautifully written music manuscripts to survive from the late 16th century. Still preserved in its original ornate binding, it contains 42 pieces for keyboard by William Byrd, the greatest English composer of the Elizabethan age.
Exhibited in collaboration with the British Library and the University of Aberdeen Music Department.
Silver of the Stars
(24 May - 28 September)
International celebrities Nicola Benedetti, Robbie Coltrane, Sir Sean Connery, Billy Connelly, Lulu, Sir Cameron Mackintosh, Ewan McGregor,, Alexander McQueen, Ian Rankin and Sharleen Spiteri are the inspiration behind this stunning exhibition of work by Scottish silversmiths.
Silver of the Stars was created by The Incorporation of Goldsmiths of the City of Edinburgh.
Hand, Heart and Soul
(14 June - 23 August)
The Arts and Crafts Movement in Scotland
Aberdeen Art Gallery's major summer exhibition is a celebration of Arts and Crafts practice across Scotland between 1880 and 1939. This show goes beyond well-known names such as Edinburgh's Phoebe Traquair and leader of the 'Glasgow Style', Charles Rennie Mackintosh to explore a nationwide flowering of creative talent.
A City of Edinburgh Museums and Galleries touring exhibition, supported by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation through its Regional Museums Initiative.
Children in Conflict
(13 September - 15 November)
A provocative, groundbreaking exhibition which brings together work by high-profile contemporary artists who have responded to the theme of conflict and the devastating effect that it has on children worldwide. It also features a series of new paintings by renowned war artist John Keane, who was commissioned to travel to Angola by Christian Aid.

Aberdeen Maritime Museum
Changing Port
(19 January to 4 May)
The museum's collections of artworks by George Mackie documents the changes in Aberdeen's Harbour over the past fifty years. This small display reflects the diversity of vessels that called into Aberdeen from the 1950s through the early years of the North Sea offshore oil industry.
Deeper than Light
(29 March-3 August, Science - Art - Technology )
The only chance in Scotland to view this internationally acclaimed exhibition on deep-sea creatures who inhabit the volcanic mountain range in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean known as the mid-Atlantic Ridge. The exhibition is based on the work of the international research project, MAR-ECO, in which scientists from 16 nations including Aberdeen's Marine Laboratory took part.

Ben Boats
(10 May - 16 August)
A small display of watercolours by George Wiseman - a pierhead artist who painted many of the trawlers of the 1950s and 60s built in Aberdeen for the Richard Irvin trawler fleet.
Ship Models
(16 August - 1 November)
Marine modelmaking has been an essential part of shipbuilding for hundreds of years. These superbly crafted ships in miniature provide an insight into the shipbuilding process and a testament to the skill of their builders and range from the clipper era to the last ship ever launched in Aberdeen.

Local Brides
(26 January - 1 March)
For many women the wedding dress is the most expensive, glamorous and special item of clothing they will ever wear. The wedding dress takes many forms and has developed in shape and style over the decades. This exhibition presents a selection of desirable dresses and bridal wear that were created by local designers and worn by Aberdeenshire brides.
