Object Identification and Enquiries
Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums offers an enquiry service for works of art, archaeological finds, coins and artefacts and banknotes.
Those wishing to receive information about a specific object should hand in the object at the Gallery Shop or at the Maritime Museum Shop and a curator will examine it in due course. The object will then be returned to you with a written opinion.
For more information please visit ask a question.
In the case of ancient objects and coins, you should be aware of the Scottish Treasure Trove Legislation.
Please note that the law of Bona Vacantia (Treasure Trove) applies in the case of all ancient objects found in Scotland and the legal position is different from that in England.
