#IAM appeal

IAM Appeal

In 1885 Aberdeen Art Gallery was founded by visionary individuals who gave their time, money and works of art for the benefit of the city.

In 1925 the Cowdray Hall was added, together with the Remembrance Hall, generously supported by public subscription. These much-loved buildings are no longer fit for purpose and our once-in-a-lifetime redevelopment project is creating a world class visitor attraction celebrating the inspiring power of art and music for everyone.

We are asking for the support of our entire community to help us realise this ambitious project for our city and the North East of Scotland.

Be part of #IAM! There are a number ways you can support our Inspiring Art and Music appeal including:

COWDRAY HALL

Where words fail, art and music speak

Funded by a gift from Annie, Viscountess Cowdray, to encourage 'a taste for art and music in the City of Aberdeen', the Cowdray Hall was opened in 1925 by King George V and Queen Mary. Over the years renowned local, national and international musicians at all stages of their careers have performed here.

MUSICAL CHAIRS

REMEMBRANCE HALL

"We will remember them."

The Remembrance Hall was opened by King George V and dedicated in 1925, to commemorate the lives lost during the Great War.

FORGET THEM NOT
Gordon Burnett, 2017

Gordon Burnett's commission for the Remembrance Hall is a quiet, non-denominational monument to all those who have died in conflicts, both past and present. The hard, cold surface of the granite and marble it is made from contrasts with the delicate beauty of Forget-me-not flowers.

Donate £25 or £100 to support the redevelopment of Aberdeen Art Gallery and the Remembrance Hall and name a Forget-Me-Not, or a cluster of flowers, in memory of a loved one.

Please contact our fundraising team on 01224 523719 or email Support-Us@aberdeencity.gov.uk
