To Pastures New, Sir James Guthrie, 1888.
In 1885 local granite merchant Alexander MacDonald left a gift to Aberdeen Art Gallery to be used only to buy artworks less than 25 years old. Thanks to his generosity, the people of Aberdeen and visitors to the Art Gallery can enjoy over a century of contemporary art - one of the finest collections in the country, including one of our most-loved paintings, To Pastures New by Sir James Guthrie.

More and more people are realising that leaving a gift in your will can help future generations to share in your most treasured experiences.

A gift in your will, however large or small, will help to preserve Aberdeen Art Gallery and the exceptional collections of art and history in its care for future generations to enjoy.

Thanks to a new Government initiative, by leaving 10% of your estate to charity, the rate of Inheritance Tax applicable to the rest of the estate is reduced to 36%. Therefore, by giving to Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums Development Trust - making a gift to Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums Development Trust could also benefit your loved ones.
