Donation of Objects

Unfortunately, during the redevelopment of the art gallery and construction of a new museum collection store, we will not be able to accept any donations to the collections. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you do wish to offer something to Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums, please complete this object form and send to

Offer of donation

We will be in a position to contact you once our new storage facility has opened to the public in early 2016, when we will be able to consider, assess, process, document and safely store newly acquired items.

We are enormously grateful for all donations and gifts Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums has received over the years. Donations and gifts have enhanced our collection and contributed to the understanding of our rich heritage.

Our goal is to strengthen our collection by seeking to acquire works and artefacts that are:

  • Significant in the context of the collection
  • In good condition, bearing in mind their date of creation and medium.

If you are interested in making a donation or a bequest to Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums, we would like to hear from you. We are not able to accept all donations or ensure that your donation will go on display. However, we are always happy to offer advice and determine the best environment for your donation.

How to donate objects

We welcome donations of objects to our collection provided they meet our current collecting policies.
