Our displays of the permanent collection do change within each venue. Works may also go out on loan so please check in advance if you plan a visit to view a particular work.

Early Years and Primary Education

At Provost Skene's House we can support the following topics:

  • Homes Long Ago
  • Jacobites (usually a joint visit with The Tolbooth Museum)
  • Christmas Customs.

We are always happy to develop tours and visits to meet your requirements. Please call us to discuss your needs. We also offer visits linking to our special exhibitions programme.

Self-Guided Primary School Group Tours of Venues

Secondary and Further Education

Secondary school teachers wishing to bring their class on a visit to Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums venues are advised to contact the relevant member of staff to discuss the varying subjects or to request a specific tour.

Provost Skene's House Christmas Candlelight Tours

One of the highlights of the year is a series of Christmas Candlelight Tours at Provost Skene's House which is decorated in the traditional manner with fresh festive greenery. Visitors can enjoy an evening tour of the house, find out where our Christmas customs originated and discover how the season was celebrated in the past.

In addition there is a regular programme of free lunchtime talks which highlight the exhibitions in the Costume Gallery as well as giving visitors an opportunity to find out more about life at Provost Skene's House.
