Three of the best: The Lost Department Stores of Aberdeen

The Tolbooth Museum

25/01/2014 - 10/05/2014

Long before city shopping malls, the great independently run department stores such as Falconers, Watt & Grant and Esslemont & Macintosh graced the bustling thoroughfare of Union Street.

They prided themselves in providing an exemplary selection of goods, from women's fashions and menswear to children's clothes and household goods. Although these stores are now gone, many of the items sold by them remain within Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums Collections, some of which are featured in this display.
