The Last of the Tall Ships: Photographs by Alan Villiers (1903-82)

Aberdeen Maritime Museum

15/09/2012 - 05/01/2013

These striking black and white photographs by sailor, author and photographer, Alan Villiers, record early 20th century maritime history when merchant sailing vessels were in rapid decline.

Taken between 1928 and 1933, one of Villiers' most prolific periods, when he was part owner of the four-masted barque Parma (1902), they provide a vivid and often intimate snapshot of life and work on board these romantic vessels. A touring exhibition from Royal Museums Greenwich.

This exhibition is closing early due to exciting development work taking place in our Energy Galleries. Apologies for any inconvenience.
