The Lewis Chessmen Unmasked

07/10/2010 - 08/01/2011

The Lewis Chessmen represent one of the most important archaeological discoveries ever made in Scotland. This major exhibition casts fresh light on their significance and considers their possible origins.

Bringing together collections from the British Museum and National Museums Scotland it uses new research to look at the mystery and intrigue surrounding the Chessmen, explores the stories surrounding their discovery and shows how the characters reflected society at the time they were made.

A touring exhibition supported by The Scottish Government.
