This installation is the artist’s response to the conflict in the world today and unavoidable memories of conflicts past, in this centenary year of the ‘War to end all Wars’.

Glass seemed the perfect medium in which to represent the fragility of life in wartime. The army of glass figures are arranged in regimented rows, but each is uniquely engraved. Alison Kinnaird is one of the few artists keeping alive the ancient art of wheel-engraving. She combines this with modern technology such as water-jet cutting and LEDs which trap light within the glass.

The tour of this installation is in association with Poppy Scotland, and is supported by Museums and Galleries Scotland, The Binks Trust and Lester and Mary Borley.
