Workshops for Young People

Music, Makeup and Street Art Workshops for Young People

Create your own alternative self-portrait and express yourself through lyrics, performance, creative makeup and street art. All workshops are led by professional artists and performers.

Booking is required for all workshops, tickets cost £5 + 95p booking fee.

Workshops will take place at Aberdeen Maritime Museum.

GRAFFITI 101: ALTER EGO, THE DEVELOPMENT OF A TAG
When: Friday 16 October 2015
Times: 10am-1pm for ages 13-16 years, 1.30pm-4.30pm for ages 17-21 years.
Where: Aberdeen Maritime Museum
Cost: £5 per person, plus £0.95 booking fee

Explore the thought provoking and exciting world of urban art by creating your own alter ego street art tag with graffiti artist Karl Porter of UV Arts. www.uv-arts.co

This dynamic workshop will include a graffiti sketching class leading towards the development of your own personalised alter ego graffiti tag.
Graffiti art, or street art, is an exciting and alternative art form that has grown in popularity in recent years. With the development of a graffiti tag you can create your own unique identity, get creative and experiment with letter structure using an array of colours and materials.
Please note that this workshop does not include outdoor work or the use of spray paints.

HIP HOP: STREET POETRY AND LYRIC WRITING

Millennium Child Entertainment http://www.millenniumchildww.com/ bring their Hip Hop Rap lyrics workshop to Aberdeen Maritime Museum for one beat-busting day!

This unique opportunity will give you the chance to see what Rap / MCing is all about through the eyes of a professional. M.Child artists and tutors have had years of experience performing on tours, at club events, festivals and featuring with other established bands/artists. Many have released albums and are still touring around the UK and internationally as solo artists or as support acts.

The workshop provides the opportunity to discover your creative writing skills and use them to positively express your thoughts and feelings. With assistance and encouragement from professional MC Millennium Child, you will be 'spitting' your own lyrics in no time.

Millennium Child Entertainment aims to show the world that you don't have to be in London to make it happen!

CREATIVE MAKEUP: SUGAR SKULLS
When: Friday 23 October 2015
Time: 11am-4pm for ages 13-25 years
Where: Aberdeen Maritime Museum
Cost: £5 per person, plus £0.95 booking fee

Learn how to make bold creative statements with makeup in this hands-on workshop with renowned artist Ulianka Maksymiuk (http://www.ulianka.com/ ). Ulianka will demonstrate themed makeup looks inspired by Day of the Dead or locally known as Dias de los Muertos a Mexican celebration of the dead. Learn how to create a Sugar Skull design using paints, gemstones, stencils, and freehand techniques. You'll then get the opportunity to create your very own decorative sugar skull; perfect for an alternative, colourful Halloween look to impress!

Additional Information:
This workshop will include a lunchbreak. Lunch is not provided, participants are asked to please bring along a packed lunch.
Participants will be applying makeup products to their skin. These can be left on or removed at the end of the workshop. All materials will be provided, however, you may prefer to bring along your own makeup removal essentials.
