A series of ceramics by Troon artist Hannah Spicer, produced from the intricate rocks of Aberdeenshire’s coast. On sale at Aberdeen Maritime Museum gift shop.

Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums is delighted to host the work of Hannah Spicer, a recent graduate of Gray's School of Art at the Robert Gordon University.

Hannah studied Three-Dimensional Design with ceramics, glass, product design and jewellery before concentrating solely on ceramics for her final year of study.

Hannah has produced a unique range of tableware ceramics that have been produced from the stones of Aberdeenshire’s coast.

“I believe that I have created a style of work which mirrors the Scottish coast. My whole life I have been surrounded by the sea and it has always acted inspiration for my creative process. Throughout my final semester at Gray’s School of Art, I travelled to a range of beaches to take samples of rock texture and forms. These samples were then made into moulds and each piece individually press moulded by hand. The two sets, from Stonehaven and Inverbervie, were then carefully refined into functional tableware".
