Inspiring Art and Music Inspiring Art and Music

Our vision is for everyone to be able to experience the power of inspiring art and music. We have embarked upon a once in a generation £30m redevelopment campaign to dramatically improve the Aberdeen Art Gallery and Cowdray Hall buildings complex.

Generations of Aberdonians first discovered art and culture within these walls, whether through visiting exhibitions, concerts, talks or lectures.

The project is the most significant improvement to Aberdeen's cultural landscape since Aberdeen Art Gallery first opened in 1885.

"We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity, by rejuvenating and improving three much-loved buildings to create a world class cultural centre, celebrating art and music at the heart of civic life." Christine Rew, Art Gallery & Museums Manager

Inspiring Art and Music will

• Increase the number of gallery spaces from 11 to 21, to showcase the breadth of Aberdeen's unique collection

• Establish a new space to attract the very best visiting artwork from around the world

• Create a stunning new rooftop gallery space, with roof terraces opening up beautiful city vistas

• Transform the Cowdray Hall into a modern concert venue, while retaining its superb acoustic quality

• Provide two new dedicated learning suites for schools and learners
