George Fiddes Watt was a portrait painter and mezzotint engraver. He was born 15 February 1873 in Aberdeen and studied at Gray's School of Art and in Edinburgh. He exhibitied at the Royal Academy from 1906–30.and in 1955 was awarded an honorary LL.D. from the University of Aberdeen.
His principal works include portraits of Viscount Haldane (Lincoln's Inn), Viscount Reading (Middle Temple) and Sir J. J. Thompson (Royal Society). Watt died on 22 November 1960 in Aberdeen.
