Models and muses inspire artists

13 January

A talk on the artist's need for a model will be held at 12.30pm on Wednesday 26 January at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill.

Griffin Co, the curator of the exhibition Models and Muses: Women and the artists they inspired, currently on show at the gallery, will examine the view that an artist's need for a model has been a vital element throughout the history of art.

Many artists have said that their creative work has been inspired by an individual whom they refer to as their muse.

Griffin Co said: "This talk aims to shed light on the role of models and muses in paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries."
