As curator of decorative art, I am responsible for the care, research into and exhibition of the furniture, the metalwork collection (including silver, other precious metals and jewellery), enamelwork, costume and textiles. I also assist in looking after the social history collection; many items encompass some or all of those categories such as prams, toys and dolls, kitchenalia, treen and objects such as looms, cultural and religious artefacts.

I also help look after Provost Skene’s House; a 16th century house sited in the heart of one of the oldest parts of the city of Aberdeen. It is laid out as a series of rooms and furnished with paintings, furniture, textiles and items of everyday use for the time.
